Description

The women (who also participated in various parts) dressed in a hodge podge of traditional and modern attire look on.

In November 2007, myself, my grandfather, my father, my aunt, and my four cousins set out to retrace my grandfather's childhood in the Philippines. My great grandfather was an Episcopalian missionary who lived and worked in the Philippines for decades. My grandfather was born in the Philippines in 1931. He lived in the village of Besao until he was 10. During the latter part of WWII, he, along with his father, sister and mother, were interned by the Japanese in until they were liberated when he was 13.

When we returned, the community of Besao organized for the school that my great grandfather founded to put on a cultural presentation of the traditional Igorot dances. It was an amazing privilege.
